Moving through childhood, the teenage years and into adulthood is not the same thing as becoming mature. There are many positive experiences and teachable moments a person goes through that may help shape them, but there are also many experiences that wound and scar, bringing doubt, cynicism, fear, and mistrust. These experiences are the basis for the paradigm (an emotional operating system) that we come to process life through. This was the darkened lens that I saw life through; I trusted almost no one and “faith” was an unknown word to me. Cynicism and doubt were the signposts on the path I travelled on.
