Giant Slayers

No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you;
I will never leave you nor forsake you.
  Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land
I swore to their ancestors to give them.”
Joshua 1:5,6

“David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you
in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves;
for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
~ I Samuel 17:45, 47

We all know this famous account of how an unknown, underestimated shepherd boy defeated the most fearsome vicious giant,
and we also know the account of the children of Israel being overwhelmed with fear
at just the rumor of giants in the Land God gave them, causing them to second guess-
even doubt God’s promises. David carried the same spirit as Joshua and Caleb- he believed God-
and so he killed Goliath that day with God’s divine help.
I would contend that the spirit of anakim-giants-still exists.
Are you familiar with it?
Seemingly insurmountable obstacles towering above our situation.
Backed into a corner…with no natural solution, no way out.
But God…
I’ve had many opportunities to share my testimony lately as we travel.
It hasn’t been easy because of my physical disabilities and weaknesses,
maybe this exactly the reason why so many doors open to share Dead Jew Walking-
how God triumphs in the face of our weaknesses as we squared off against various giants.
There is no weapon that can stand against us, beloved.
When giants stand in your way remember that as children of the Most High God
He has empowered us with unconventional weapons (as described in Ephesians 6:10-18) ,
calling each of us to be giant slayers.
The battle is the Lord’s.
